DESCRIPTION:Academy Schools and the King County Library System will be co-hosting a special screening of the award-winning documentary\, Screenagers\, at the Burien Library Multi-Purpose Room on Wednesday\, December 7th beginning at 6:30 pm. The Burien Library is located at 400 SW 152nd Street in Burien (http://kcls.org/locations/1495/).  The film runs 1 hour 10 minutes. Join us for a facilitated discussion immediately following the screening. \n\n \n\nFilm Synopsis: Are you watching kids scroll through life\, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids\, and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. Her latest documentary film\, Screenagers\, probes into the vulnerable corners of family life\, including the director's own\, and depicts messy struggles over social media\, video games\, academics\, and internet addiction. Through poignant and unexpectedly funny stories\, along with surprising insights from authors\, psychologists\, and brain scientists\, Screenagers reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
